04 MAY We played with The Automatic and Viva Machines last night in Cardiff's Hard Rock Cafe. Great night had. We also won a bursary from Underground Sounds. Which we will use towards our first single. We've already recorded the song. Just need to experiment with B-sides, you'll hear a different side to The Sketch. Aswell as a video. We are also looking at distributing it through iTunes etc with a few physical copies for the collectors out there being sold in Fopp, Virgin. Have you heard the sad news? The Cooper Temple Clause have split. But on the up side it should make people appreciate them a bit more however we're looking forward to see what the members go on to do. 17 APRIL Macca drove us [very well] to and from Crewekerne on Saturday, fun night had by all, with The Luscious Rickys' singer declaring this as the best night of live music he'd ever seen. Thanks to the guys at The Antelope and The Luscious Rickys for asking us to play. We're currently practising hard for the final of Barcode's Battle of the Bands. It will be an awesome night for music, who cares about the oldies when you have young bands as good as this. All the bands have worked hard to get into the final, so you can be sure they're not going to fuck it up now. Make sure you're there SAT 28th APR, 7-9pm, FREE entry @ Barcode, Weston-super-Mare. On a different subject we've all been getting into this book called 'Our Band Could Be Your Life' you can expect more on this in the future, it really is something else... 12 APRIL We've spent the last couple of days in the studio, recording some new and old tracks. We're really pleased with what we've done so far, it's sounding better than anything we've done before. The aim being we'll use a few tracks as part of our first single release. We've not yet decided what the title track will be but keep an eye out. We're playing near Taunton this Saturday with The Luscious Rickys and 95% Cotton, it's our first time performing that way, so we want to make an impression, literally leave people feeling gob smacked... Things to look forward too: Meeting The Automatic, they're presenting us with a Charlie Derrick Bursary [May 3]. Competing in the final of Barcode's battle of the bands. Some great bands are competing, it's your chance to see the best local talent for FREE. No excuses be there on Saturday 28 April. Being main support for The Maple State @ Hobbits Saturday June 2. Will be our first time on the new Hobbits stage, been inside once and it looks impressive. Makes us proud to think that Weston holds such a good music venue.
